Allergist Redwood City, CA

It’s that time of year again. The time of year where the sun comes out to play, the birds start chirping, the weather gets warmer, and pollen is in the air. It’s allergy season! This means a lot of discomfort for over 3 million Americans who suffer from seasonal allergies. Do you live in Redwood City, CA and have a need for an allergy specialist to help battle your allergy symptoms? Then you are in luck! At Columbia Asthma & Allergy Clinic, we have board-certified allergy specialists to treat you in the management of your allergies. Our experienced allergists and medical staff offer a wide range of services from food allergy treatment, allergy testing, allergy shots, seasonal allergies treatments, asthma management, and rhinoscopy. We are the leading physician office to take care of all your allergy needs.

Do you do patch testing at your clinic?

We sure do! Allergy testing historically has involved needles to prick the skin to expose your body to various irritants to allow physicians to see how patients respond to the possible irritant. The patch tests require the patient to wear various small patches on their skin containing the irritant and remain on the skin for at least two weeks in which the patient then returns to the doctor’s office to have the skin analyzed.

Can you help with my environmental allergies or food allergies?

We can help with both! The most evidence-based and safest way to treat both environmental and food allergies is through desensitization treatments. Being allergic to both environmental and food allergies are common. From various types of food allergies, (including common food allergies such as shellfish, nuts, and dairy) to environmental allergies that are common (such as pet dander, pollen, dust mites and grasses.) The best way to treat these allergies is by introducing you to these allergens in small, diluted doses. In time, the dosages will increase, and you then become less allergic, lessening your symptoms.

Is Rhinoscopy available at your allergy clinic?

Yes. Rhinoscopy is a procedure where a scope will examine more closely into your nasal passages. This allows physicians to take a closer look at your throat, vocal cords, sinuses, and septum. Rhinoscopy is a short procedure with very little to no downtime. You can continue with your day following the rhinoscopy procedure.

What are some other conditions you can test for at Columbia Asthma & Allergy in Redwood City?

Our allergy clinic specializes in the treatment of numerous breathing conditions. Some of those conditions include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and asthma. In diagnosing one of these conditions, we use a diagnostic test called Spirometry. This test allows physicians to analyze and measure the functioning of a patient’s lungs. Spirometry measures your lungs capacity in two different ways: forced expiratory volume (FEV), which measures how much air you can push from your lungs within a second, and Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), which measures the amount of how forcefully you can exhale after breathing deeply. If you experience difficulty in breathing or any concerns with respiratory and lung health, you would be a good candidate in receiving the Spirometry test.
